Manage Sampling in a Separate Season - Production (Non Inventory)

If you have different costs for raw materials and make costs from sampling to production, you might want to separate sample production from bulk production into separate seasons.

Create a new Season for Sampling

For more information on how to create a new season, review the Create a New Season lesson.

Run through usual processes to create Products

You can add multiple manufacturers for each Product. You may use a different manufacturer for sampling or have higher sampling costs in your production factory.

Create Product Costings via bulk import or single entry.

We have assigned two manufacturers to our sample product

You have to assign one manufacturer to create the product and the second one can be added at any stage.

  1. Select the Manufacturer
  2. First Cost/Make Price for making samples - goes to costing and production order
  3. Lead time for making samples
  4. Notes re Minimums for this manufacturer
  5. Internal comments - only for this product/manufacturer

You can add the production manufacturer with production price which can be useful for checking projected wholesale prices/margins etc.

The manufacturer ticked as default will be the one on any production orders you've created

You can switch between manufacturers/make prices on the costs page to check overall costs/margins for your bulk. When switching manufacturers, all historical data will be replaced with the details of the manufacturer selected as default.

To prevent this, we recommend you use the Product Versioning feature as each product version will retain the manufacturer's details.
