Step 2: Add your Data

Adding your data into Zedonk is a crucial step to start using the system. This guide will walk you through this process of adding; suppliers, manufacturers, customers, raw materials and product costing. You can add data in bulk using one of our templates available in the relevant Data Import Tool or manually, one record at a time.

Before initiating the process, it is important to note that certain dependencies exist, such as the need to enter suppliers before raw materials and manufacturers before products.

To familiarise yourself with the importing data into Zedonk, watch one of our webinar recordings: Data Imports in Zedonk

Enter your Suppliers and Manufacturers

In Zedonk, Suppliers provide you with raw materials (e.g. cotton, silk, wool), components (e.g. zips, labels, buttons, clasps), and packaging (e.g. boxes, tissue paper, ribbons).  You must add your Suppliers before you create your Raw Materials.

Manufacturers handle the production of your products. You must add your Manufacturers before you create your Products.

To manually create Supplier and Manufacturer records, see:

  1. Add a New Supplier
  2. Add a New Manufacturer

To add them in bulk with the Data Import tool, see:

  1. Data Import - Create Manufacturers
  2. Data Import - Create Suppliers

Assign Raw Materials to your Products

If you are working with Cut, Make, Trim (CMT) manufacturing, you will want to assign raw materials to your products and specify each raw material's consumption.

You can manually assign raw materials (and sized raw materials) to products in the Product Costings module:

Or you can import a bill of materials (BOM) in bulk:

You can also categorise each raw material that is assigned to the Product to inform your manufacturer. You will need to create BOM Material Types in your System Settings first, then assign them to the raw materials in the Raw Materials tab of the Product ('Material Type' field):

For example, 'Main Fabric', 'Trims', 'Lining', 'Label'.

Enter your Customers

Add your customers so that you can create sales orders, proformas, delivery notes, invoices and other documentation in Zedonk.

Your customer details can be entered manually:

Or in bulk using the 2-step process:

  1. Customers - Data Import - General
  2. Customers - Data Import - Addresses

Note that you cannot add addresses before importing general details, so the order of importing customer data in bulk is important.
