Step 4: Create your Production Orders

Once you have added your products and assigned raw materials to the products (if you work with CMT manufacturing), you can create production orders. Your workflow will vary depending if you want to tie your production orders to sales orders or if you want to create them independently of sales orders. Zedonk's versatility caters to various business needs, allowing you to efficiently manage production orders for both wholesale, e-commerce, hybrid and independent scenarios.

Create a Production Order against your Sales Orders (Wholesales scenario)

After all the sales orders have been imported, Zedonk can automatically calculate the quantities that you need your manufacturer to produce to fulfil your sales orders. This is especially helpful when you do not want to over/under-produce and end up with over-stock at the end of the season:

If you do not have the inventory module, please follow the guide linked below:

As you are finalising production numbers or your customer demand changes (perhaps more sales orders come in last-minute) and you have not confirmed quantities with your manufacturer, you may need to update the linked sales orders by removing or adding items:

If you do not have the inventory module, please follow the guide linked below:

Create a Production Order against your Sales Orders (E-commerce scenario)

If you have not already, create a customer record for your e-commerce orders (for example, named '[STOCK ORDER]'). This will help you track all your costs, whether for your actual customers or to produce your e-commerce stock.

You would likely set the e-commerce ([STOCK ORDER]) customer's price list at cost level by creating a Customer Category (called, for example 'OWN STOCK') with the Price List set at Cost and assigning the Customer Category ('OWN STOCK') to the customer record, as per the example below:

Once you have the '[STOCK ORDER]' customer record, you can go ahead and create a sales order for this customer that includes all products and quantities you want to produce for your e-commerce site:

Zedonk can automatically calculate the quantities that you need your manufacturer to produce to fulfil your e-commerce sales order:

If you do not have the inventory module, please follow the guide linked below:

Create a Production Order against your Sales Orders (Wholesale and E-commerce scenario)

You can use Zedonk to calculate the total production quantities from both your wholesale and e-commerce orders. In this hybrid scenario, you would import all your wholesale orders and your e-commerce order(s) as per the instructions noted in the paragraphs above, then create Production Order(s) for your manufacturer by selecting both wholesale and e-commerce sales orders in the Production Analysis module:

If you do not have the inventory module, please follow the guide linked below:

Create a Production Order independent of your Sales Orders

Lastly, you may want to create a Production Order that is not linked to any of your sales orders. Perhaps you do not import your sales orders to Zedonk or you do not want to track costs of your e-commerce orders, you can still create a Production Order from the Production Book Out/In module:

Note that this option is not available for users without the inventory module.
